Overview of the 66th SSC Technical Entry
The Indian Army is inviting online applications for the 66th Short Service Commission (SSC) Technical entry for both men and women. This is a fantastic opportunity for unmarried Male and Female Engineering Graduates, as well as Widows of Defence Personnel who passed away while in service. Successful candidates will commence their course in April 2026 at the prestigious Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Age Criteria
- For SSC (Tech)-66 Men and SSCW (Tech.)-66 Women: Candidates must be between 20 to 27 years of age as of 01st April 2026.
- For Widows of Defence Personnel who Died in Harness (SSCW (Non-Tech) [Non-UPSC] and SSCW (Tech)): The maximum age limit is 35 years as of 01st April 2026.
Pay Scale and Stipend
Selected candidates will receive a stipend of ₹56,100/- during their training period at OTA, Chennai. Upon successful completion of training, they will be commissioned as a Lieutenant (Lt.) in the Indian Army, with a pay scale under the 7th CPC Pay Level-10, ranging from ₹56,100/- to ₹1,77,500/-.
Method of Selection
The selection process involves several stages:
- Shortlisting: Only eligible candidates, based on a cutoff percentage determined by the Indian Army, will be shortlisted.
- SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at one of the designated Selection Centres: Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Kapurthala (Punjab). The interviews will be conducted by a Psychologist, Group Testing Officer, and an Interviewing Officer. Call-up letters for the SSB interviews will be sent via the candidate’s registered e-mail ID and SMS.
- Two-Stage Procedure: The SSB interview is a five-day process with a two-stage selection procedure. Those who clear Stage-I will proceed to Stage-II, while those who fail Stage-I will be sent back on the same day.
- Selection Centre Allotment: The allotment of Selection Centres is at the discretion of the Directorate General of Recruiting (DG Rtg), IHQ of MoD (Army), and no requests for changes will be entertained.
Medical Examination
Candidates recommended by the SSB will undergo a thorough Medical Examination conducted by a Board of Service Medical Officers to ensure they meet the required physical and medical standards.
