The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is gearing up to conduct the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Assistant Commandant Recruitment Examination in 2025, offering a gateway to prestigious Group-A government positions within India’s crucial security apparatus. This examination, scheduled for August 3rd, 2025, aims to fill 357 vacancies across five prominent forces: the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Vacancy Distribution and Eligibility Criteria:

The 2025 recruitment aims to fill 357 Assistant Commandant roles, distributed as follows: 24 in BSF, 204 in CRPF, 92 in CISF, 4 in ITBP, and 33 in SSB. To be eligible, candidates must be between 20 and 25 years of age as of August 1st, 2025. Age relaxations are applicable for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and other specified categories, as outlined in the official notification. A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification is the minimum educational requirement. Physical fitness is paramount, and candidates must meet the physical standards stipulated in the official notification. Notably, both male and female candidates can apply for positions in BSF and CRPF, while ITBP positions are exclusively for male candidates. Possession of an NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate is considered a desirable qualification, which will be given weightage during the interview/personality test. Successful candidates will be placed in Pay Level-10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay matrix, with salaries ranging from ₹56,100 to ₹177,500.  

Selection Process and Application Details:

The selection process involves a written examination conducted by the UPSC on August 3rd, 2025, followed by a Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standards Test conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The final stage is the Personality Test/Interview conducted by the UPSC. Candidates must pay an application fee of ₹200, with exemptions for SC/ST/Women candidates. The fee can be paid in cash at SBI branches, through SBI net banking, or using Visa/Master Credit/Debit cards.  

Prospective candidates must submit their applications online through the official UPSC website, https://upsconline.gov.in, between March 5th, 2025, and March 25th, 2025, for the 2025 examination.
